Charles “Chuck” Barrett March 23, 1953 – February 6, 2016

barrettCharles Lynn Barrett, “Chuck,” was born in Salina, Kansas on March 23, 1953, to Dorothy and Charles Barrett.

The eldest of three children, Chuck grew up in an Air Force family, moving a few times before moving to Oak Cliff, Texas, where he would remain for years. It was in Oak Cliff that he met the love of his life, Pam, at the tender age of eleven at Umphrey Lee Elementary. They remained together through childhood and married on October 6, 1972, a year following his high school graduation from David W. Carter. That same year, he began attending Mountain View College and began his career in food sales at A&P Food Stores. In fact, it was at A&P where Chuck had his first job as a bagger at the age of 15. Through his dedication and hard work he became the youngest buyer at A&P Food Stores. He spent a successful 10 years at A&P before going to work for several reputable food sales companies, including Mrs. Bairds, Martha White, and 14 years at Keebler.

Prior to his retirement in 2013, he was VP of Sales and Marketing at Lonestar Foods. Chucks strong will and determination were apparent not only in his professional life, but his personal life as well. He was known to many as a lifelong friend, making friends and acquaintances everywhere he went. He took great joy and pride in his yard work, and was known for having the “best” yard on the street. He enjoyed baseball, a passion passed on to his son, Matt. As well as spending time hunting and fishing in his beloved place of vacation, Buena Vista, Colorado. Chuck also had a love of Ford Mustangs. His current being a 2007 427-R Roush, better known by his grandchildren as the “Batmobile.”

Chuck saved his greatest love for his wife Pam, two children, Ashley and Matt, and his three grandsons. As a husband, father and grandfather he leaves behind an enduring bond that can never be broken.

He is survived by his wife, Pamela Barrett; daughter, Ashley Houck and her husband, Scott; son, Matt Barrett and his wife, Dori; aunt, Barbara Creach; and uncle, David Barrett; and his three grandchildren, Preston Houck; Gavin Barrett; and Cruz Barrett.

jaynesA memorial service will be held Saturday, February 13, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at Jaynes Memorial Chapel, 811 S. Cockrell Hill Road, Duncanville, TX 75137.

A memorial contribution may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
