Carey Regiland Douglas – September 17, 1932/July 28, 2015

douglasCarey Regiland Douglas began life as a premature baby in Pike County, Mississippi born to Lanell Burns Douglas and Willie Carey Douglas. He, however, continued to grow and enjoyed life with his parents, sister Peggy Douglas, and grandparents, living in Mississippi, Louisiana, and Texas.

He came from a long line of Bible teachers and church musicians and went on to study music and ministry at East Texas Baptist College. There he met Iris Jeannette Widner, and they were married in January 1954 in Beaumont, Texas. Carey enlisted in the Air Force, and worked as a training and marksmanship instructor in San Antonio, Texas where his children Carey Kevin and Karen Lanell were born.

He was an international award-winning marksman and a lay preacher. He worked, and along with his family, served in Ankara, Turkey; San Antonio, Texas; Dayton, Ohio, and Angeles City, Philippines. Wherever he lived, he served, preaching and leading the music in Baptist churches.

After retiring from the Air Force he taught at Legacy Christian Academy where he continued to minister and participate in God’s transformation of people’s lives.

He is survived by his wife of sixty-one years, Jeannie Widner Douglas, his sister, Peggy Douglas Powell, his son C. Kevin Douglas and daughter-in-law Pam Lee Douglas; daughter Karen Douglas Alexander and son-in-law Mark S. Alexander, and grandchildren Ariel Alexander Arnsdorff and Gerhard Arnsdorff, Lucas Mark Alexander and Joy Freemyer Alexander, and Steven Douglas Alexander.

jaynesServices will be held on Thursday, July 30, 2015 at 12:30 am at Jaynes Memorial Chapel.

Interment will follow at the Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery.
