The Dallas Baptist Patriots (4-7) saw their losing streak extended to four games on Sunday as the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi Islanders (7-5) answered DBU runs in each of the last four innings, including a two-run, walk-off homerun to defeat the Patriots, 11-10. DBU scored in each of the final five innings of the contest but Corpus scored in the final four, either tying the game or reclaiming the lead every inning from the sixth on. Corpus jumped out to a four run lead in the second inning, aided by errors from the DBU defense. In all, DBU ended the game with four more errors, tying their most for the season. DBU has only one errorless game this season and allowed five more unearned runs on Sunday. The starter for Dallas Baptist, Cory Taylor, last only three innings, allowing five runs (one earned) on six hits. Blake Webster threw 2.1 innings in relief of Taylor and did not allow an earned run and neither did Aaron Gilbreath, who recorded an out against the only batter he faced on the day. Brandon KochJay Calhoun, and Voelker, however, all allowed Corpus to either tie the game or take the lead from the sixth inning on as the Patriot offense finally came to life on the weekend.

Boomer Collins recorded four hits on the day to lead the Patriot hitters and Ronnie Mitchell had three of his own.Duncan McAlpine hit his second homerun of the season and both Mitchell and Nash Knight picked up triples. Behind 5-2 after three innings of play, Dallas Baptist scored in each inning from the fifth on, tying the game or taking the lead in every inning after the fifth. They never could get enough cushion on this day, though, for the bullpen and fell from the fourth straight time.

DBU will look to rebound with five games next week, beginning Tuesday at home against Texas Southern. Game time is slated for 6:30 pm at Horner Ballpark.
