shepardJoseph Howard Willard Shepard was born in Springfield, Vermont, on September 29, 1938, and grew up in Charlestown, New Hampshire. He passed away June 27, 2015, at age 76.

After high school, Bill served 4 years in the United States Air Force at Dyess Air Force Base in Abilene, Texas. He later enrolled at Southwestern Assembly of God College in Waxahachie, Texas. He pastored in Franklin Assembly of God, Second Creek Assembly of God, and played a vital role in planting College Station Assembly of God. Bill worked at Texas A&M for 24 years, retiring in September 2000. He then moved to Abilene in 2001 and finally settled in Duncanville, Texas, in 2003, when he married Jean Lafever. He was a member of Trinity Church in Cedar Hill, Texas.

Bill is survived by his wife, Jean Shepard of Duncanville; children, Miriam Brown of College Station, Rebecca Ledbetter and husband, Dean of Abilene, Texas, John Shepard and wife Sheresa of Abilene, and Leah Shepard of Houston, Texas; stepchildren, Peggy Johnson of Lancaster, Texas, and Chaz Hutcheson of Irving, Texas; 9 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Howard John and Gabrielle Shepard. He also leaves behind his sisters, Elaine Lamica of Hull, Massachusetts, Yolande O’Keefe of Toland, Connecticut, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services are 9:30 am, Thursday, July 2, 2015, at Trinity Church, 1231 E. Pleasant Run Road in Cedar Hill, Texas, 75104.

jaynesBurial will follow in Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery.

Visitation with the family is 6-8 pm, Wednesday, at Jaynes.
