DBU collected 15 hits against Mississippi Valley State (1-5) on their way to an 18-1 victory and a pair of freshman helped lead the way. Redshirt Freshman Justin Wall went 3 for 5 with four RBI and true freshman Austin Listiclubbed the first Patriot homerun of the season and the first homerun in the history of Horner Ballpark. As a team, the Patriots picked up eight base on balls in the game and were hit by pitch three times to help Cy Sneed (1-0) to his first victory of the season. The third inning was the only goose egg on the board for DBU in their eight turns at bat and, of the seven innings in which they scored, they were held to one run only twice. Wall and Ronnie Mitchell both ended with four RBI and Mike Wesolowski added three of his own. RJ Talamantes picked up the first triple of the season for DBU as they chased MVSU starter David Lostra (0-1) after only three innings pitched. Boomer Collins had two of the club’s seven doubles on the evening and the Patriots stole a season-high six bases in the game. Brandon Koch threw a perfect inning of relief in his collegiate debut and fellow freshman Joseph Shaw also twirled a scoreless frame. Cody Beam came on in the ninth and gave up the only run on the night for DBU, surrendering two hits and striking out one.

DBU and Mississippi Valley will play again on Friday night with Jake Johansen set to toe the rubber for the home squad.
