Alvey Hat Trick Lifts DBU Men’s Soccer Past Southwest Baptist

THE LEAD
Junior forward Riley Alvey recorded the program’s first hat trick since being reinstated in 2012 to lead DBU to a 3-2 win over Southwest Baptist at SBU Soccer Field on Saturday afternoon. The Patriots surrendered a goal midway through the first half, and the Bearcats took a 1-0 lead into half time. Alvey came out in the second half and scored all three goals. His first two were unassisted, and Nathan McBride provided the assist on the third.

DBU held off a late comeback after allowing a goal to junior midfielder Hunter McRoberts in the 68th minute that cut the Patriot lead to one goal. Junior goalkeeper Mason Stringer made four saves on the day.
