Duncanville ISD – Forty years after the first Acton Elementary School was built, students and staff of Acton Elementary School will host a ribbon cutting ceremony to mark the official opening of their brand new campus.

The design of the new building was created with input from teachers, staff and members of the Community Bond Oversight Committee, which included district parents, community leaders and business partners.

“Moving into the new school means the beginning of a new chapter,” said Acton 2017 campus Teacher of the Year, Lucy Hampton. “We are creating a legacy for many students to come.”

Acton is the second elementary school built under the $102 million dollar bond overwhelmingly supported by the Duncanville community in 2014. Bond funds provided for expansions at two additional Duncanville ISD campuses as well as upgrades in technology and security at all campuses.

The ribbon cutting ceremony will be held at Acton Elementary School at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, August 24. The new school is located at 7095 W. Wheatland Rd., Dallas, TX.
