ACHA Selects Four Patriots for the All-Star Game

The American Collegiate Hockey Association has selected DBU Patriot hockey players Tyler Cothran, Bobby Jones,Micah Koutros, and Joe Yeado to attend the 2013 ACHA All-Star Challenge in West Chester, Pennsylvania.  Cothran, Jones, Koutros, and Yeado will combine with 16 other players and compete for the ACHA Team West.  Team West is made up of teams from Texas to the west coast, including players from San Diego State, Colorado State, Denver, San Jose State and UNLV.  The team will compete against the top 20 players from each of the other four regions across the country. The first game of the tournament will be held on Friday, April 5 and the championship game will take place on Sunday, April 7.

rp_primary_DSC_9974 (1)Coming off the best season in school history with a 26-3-1 record, this is a new experience for the Patriot Hockey program as it is the first time for a DBU player to be selected to compete in the All-Star Challenge. “What a honor not only for these four guys, but for the entire team.  We had many other players that are very deserving as well, but are proud of what these players brought to our team each time we were on the ice.  Even though we were not given a chance to play in the post-season, I am glad Joe Yeado, who was on the inaugural hockey team at DBU and captain for all three years, will be given a chance to showcase his skills on a bigger stage,” Coach Ryan Erwin said.
