JOB DESCRIPTION:

Employee will provide courteous customer service and assistance to the pharmacist. Key tasks will include assisting in maintaining the clean and orderly appearance of the pharmacy area, prioritizing work, processing and filling prescription order(s) in compliance with Federal and State laws and Ben Franklin Apothecary company policies and procedures. Responsibilities include assisting the pharmacist with operational functions such as inventory management, third party administration, coordination of workflow functions and legal compliance.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/SKILLS:

• Under the supervision of the pharmacist, takes all steps required to fill prescription(s) in compliance with all laws, regulations and Ben Franklin Apothecary policies and procedures.
• When requested applicant will retrieve the product(s), this includes counting, pouring, or measuring out the required quantity according to established Ben Franklin Apothecary company methods and procedures and affixing the label(s) permanently to the container.
• Assists Pharmacy Manager/Head Pharmacist in coordinating workflow functions and workstations to insure adequate pharmacy coverage and customer service levels.
• Maintains inventory control procedures; orders product from appropriate sources; assists with preparation for physical inventory; assist with pharmacy returns; manage pharmacy stock for recalled, outdated and overstocked product.
• Order products from wholesaler.
• Ability to readily adapt to changes in schedules and work priorities.
• Has excellent customer service skills
• Has excellent communication skills
• Perform other duties as assigned by pharmacist.
• Good planning and organizational skills.
• Experience with compounding techniques is preferred.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

REQUIRED: Applicant must successfully pass the Pharmacy Express certified technician training exam and a nationally recognized certified technician exam and much meet all state law and regulations. Applicant must have a current pharmacy technician license and be registered with the Texas State Board of Pharmacy. Applicant must successfully pass required background screening.  Bi-lingual applicant preferred, but not required.
