City Board and Commission Application Period Extended and Audit Committee Openings

The Duncanville City Council is currently accepting applications from individuals wishing to serve on a board or commission.  For those interested, the application deadline has been extended to July 30^th.  To be eligible to serve, one must be a resident and qualified voter of the City of Duncanville.

There are currently vacancies for most boards and commissions, including the following:

• Planning & Zoning Commission
• Board of Adjustments
• Park & Recreation Advisory Board
• DuncanvilleCommunity & Economic Development Corporation
• KeepDuncanvilleBeautiful Board
• DuncanvilleCommunity Multicultural Commission
• Retirement Community Oversight Committee

Additional opportunities may be available on the Library Advisory Board, Sign Control Board and the Tri-City Animal Shelter Board.

The City Council plans to conduct a brief interview with each applicant the evening of Tuesday, July 31^st. Appointments will be made in August.

The Duncanville City Council is also currently accepting applications from individuals wishing to serve on the City Council Audit Committee.  The Audit Committee meets approximately three times per year and is tasked with the following primary duties and responsibilities:

• Advise the City Council and management on the selection of the independent auditor.
• Serve as an independent and objective party to monitor the City’s financial and compliance reporting process and internal control system.
• Review and appraise the audit efforts of the City’s independent auditor.
• Provide an avenue of communication among the independent auditor, financial and senior management, and the Duncanville City Council.
