The third day of the NCAA Division II National Golf Championship saw high scores from the entire field, once again. Sophomore Mercedes Rios recorded an 11 over par 83 on day three, dropping her to 44th place out of the 70 player field.
“She got off to a great start today but given the conditions you can’t afford to have any mistakes in the middle part of the round,” shared Coach Trapp. ”She just got a little off of her game and it cost her but I know she is looking forward to having another chance tomorrow,” added Trapp.
One final round remains at Persimmon Ridge for the Championship, as each of these girls will have one more chance to improve on their current positions in the field. Concluding the final round of the tournament, the NCAA will host the closing ceremonies of the 2012 NCAA Championship Festival at the infamous Churchill Downs in Louisville, Kentucky.
