5th Annual Household Hazardous Waste Collection Event Set For March 28

On March 28, 2015 Duncanville will hold it’s 5th Annual Household Hazardous Waste Collection Event.

These events are open to all residents, including residents from all participating cities of Dallas County’s Home Chemical Collection Program such as Dallas, DeSoto, Seagoville, and several other cities.

hazardous_wasteThe number of participants attending every year is proof that the residents of Duncanville care deeply about the environment and keeping Duncanville Beautiful.

At last year’s event held in March 2014, 497 residents brought 53,726 pounds of hazardous material from their homes.

The past four events, from 2011-2014, have been a huge success and, as a result, the city has collected 114,828 pounds of hazardous waste, 33,000 pounds of hazardous pains, and 6,178 pounds of electronic waste.

Other household chemicals collected include automobile fluids, batteries, oil filters, fertilizers, cleaning products, and cooking oil.

This year’s event will be Saturday, March 28, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Duncanville High School softball parking on the west side of Greenstone Lane.

  • lawn and garden chemicals
  • aerosol sprays
  • pool chemicals
  • craft and hobby supplies
  • cleaners and polishes
  • batteries of all kinds
  • automotive fluids and oil filters
  • fluorescent light tubes
  • computers and electronics
  • cell phones

Don’t bring:

  • Business or commercial waste
  • containers larger than five gallons
  • explosives or ammunition
  • shock sensitive materials
  • smoke detectors
  • radioactive materials
  • medical waste
  • common trash or recyclables
  • construction debris televisions or appliances
