#25 DBU Lady Patriot Soccer Upended by UCO

The #25 Lady Patriot Soccer Team took a shot in the arm early from Central Oklahoma on Thursday night and was not able to answer until late in the second half.

The Bronchos scored just 1:58 into the game and netted another just two minutes later to jump on top of the Lady Patriots 2-0 before four minutes had even elapsed in the game. Things did not get better for DBU in the first half as UCO increased their lead to 4-0 before halftime. “We came out flat,” said Head Coach Michelle Lenard. “We came out flat and paid  the price.”

DBU did outshoot UCO 13-10 on the afternoon and Lea Sedwick added her fourth goal in the last three games with a header off a free kick but it was not enough as the Lady Patriots dropped the game, 4-1. It was the seventh straight win for the Bronchos as they ran their record to 7-3 and the Lady Patriots fell to 5-3-1.

“We played better in the second half,” added Lenard, “but it was far too late. We’ll have to learn from this. We’re still young and I think the pressure of being ranked really got to us. We’ll have to learn from this if we’re going to compete for a conference championship.”
