The Dallas Baptist University Patriot Cross Country teams concluded their 2011 Cross Country season at the NCAA South Central Regional Championships this past Saturday, hosted by Midwestern State University in Wichita Falls, Texas. The Lady Patriots were 14th, while the men were 15th out of the 19 team field. Host Midwestern State claimed the women’s championship, while Eastern New Mexico claimed the men’s.
“It was a rough day for us,” said head coach Jacob Phillips, “but I feel like the experience that this young team gained this year and this weekend is so valuable for what we want to accomplish as a program. We have a lot of work to do, but the year was a success. You can’t discount our 5th (Women) and 2nd (Men) consecutive Conference Championships or the fact that we raced 11 freshmen this year.”
With only two seniors, Linet Kibet and Zach Morgan, competing this past weekend the Patriots look to continue moving forward with the youth that fills their roster. “I’m super excited to see what these young men and women can do over their next few years here at Dallas Baptist University,” said Phillips.
The Patriots will now take a rest period before gearing up for the Indoor Track and Field Season which kicks off with the Missouri Southern Early Bird Meet on December 3rd.
